Welcome to Primary 2/3
Welcome to P3/2 and Mrs McKenzie! There are 21 children in the class and Mrs Hogarth will be in on Monday between break and lunch. We have settled down brilliantly into the new building and classroom!
There will be a few photographs posted to show the amazing teamwork and effort that has being going on in the classroom.
Term 1 Numeracy is all about Number Bonds and Place Value! Number bonds are a fundamental part of Maths education for primary school children, and are important for several reasons: they develop children's number sense, to understand how numbers can be broken down and combined and how to partition a whole into smaller parts. They are the foundation for more advanced Maths skills, such as mental addition and subtraction. Finally they can be used as a mental problem solving strategy as children progress.
In Literacy, we are fully immersed in South Ayrshire Reads strategy to develop confident and skilled readers with a lifelong love of reading. We are teaching children terms like:
Our topic is Hot Places Cold Places and we'll explore that through the picture book, 'The Snail and the Whale' P.E. days are Monday and Thursday in the gum hall and on Friday we will go outside. On Friday's we will visit the library with our librarian Jane.
Lots of other exciting things will be going on too! Keep your eye on X and look forward to seeing you at the parents afternoon.
