What do Annbank Primary RRS Committee do?
We began our Rights Respecting journey in 2011. We are very proud to be a Gold Accredited Rights Respecting School. Our school and community achieved our Gold Award in November 2018 and again in November 2021! As a school we celebrate and value all the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
- We are all Rights Holders.
- We know and understand that our rights are Inherent, Indivisible, Inalienable, Universal, Unconditional.
- Our Duty Bearers protect, represent and help fulfil our rights.
Meet the rights respecting school committee
This session's RRS group have to work just as hard this year. We have to continue the good work that is already in place to maintain our gold accreditation.
We meet regularly and the children are in charge of spreading the Rights Respecting language and ethos throughout the school. This doesn't mean they are the only children who follow the ethos of 'Respect' all our children and staff are aware of this and work hard to make our school inviting and welcoming with a safe atmosphere.
The pupil committee are also responsible for organising fundraisers to support children accessing their rights both locally and globally. Recently we had the privilege of working with the NB4CC to support local children and we have also raised money by selling sunflower seeds for children in Ukraine.

class charters:
At the start of each new school year, each class works with their teacher to create a class charter. They choose focused Articles from the UNCRC to explore and include in their charter, however they do investigate all rights through various lessons. The class charter is a way of ensuring that we work together to ensure everyone is able to enjoy their rights.
Some class charters have a theme such as emojis and superheroes to name a few! These are symbols used throughout the classroom for groups etc and children know their rights should be enjoyed throughout the class in all curricular areas as well as within the life of the school.
